Being able to withstand a wide range of temperatures is an important feature of our printed circuit board (PCB) assemblies. Indeed customers are increasingly requesting PCB assemblies fully tested to withstand high, low or changes in temperature. The rising demand for temperature tested PCB assemblies has prompted electronic assembly specialists MPE Electronics to invest in a state-of-the-art environmental testing chamber which will allow us to conduct a full range of tests for our clients in-house.
This significant equipment purchase is part of our ongoing investment plan to stay ahead of our customers’ needs and continually deliver the products they require, to the high standard they expect and within a timeframe that suits them.
Here are some of the benefits that the new environmental testing chamber offers our customers:
Durability
Our environmental testing chamber can subject PCB assemblies and other products to temperatures ranging from -40 to 150 degrees centigrade and can be used for constant temperature testing or temperature cycling. Using the environmental testing chamber alongside our existing comprehensive quality assurance systems means we can test our PCB assemblies extensively to ensure they can function in the environment they will be used in. As such, our customers receive PCB assemblies which are highly durable, long lasting and reliable.
Repeatability
Highly accurate controllability means our testing is repeatable to ensure all of our products meet required standards. Our temperature testing chamber is designed to evenly distribute air flow for consistent results and is fully lined with mineral wool insulation to make it easier to control temperatures and for energy efficiency.
Efficiency
Having this equipment in-house means MPE Electronics can offer a very fast and efficient service to our customers. In the past, we used a third party supplier to temperature test our PCB assemblies and, although they did an excellent job and were consistently reliable, it still meant we were tied into their schedules and so did not have full control of project timescales.
Additional costs were also incurred, not just in needing to pay the supplier to carry out the work, but also in getting the PCB assemblies to them and then back to our facilities after testing. We had a testing system that worked but was not as cost or time efficient as we would like. By investing in an environmental testing chamber we will can now meet the high demand for testing from our customers and increase capacity.
At MPE, we are constantly striving to improve our outsourced PCB assembly and product assembly processes and stay at the forefront of emerging technologies. Our commitment to investing in new equipment, new staff and training means we are able to offer the superior levels of quality and reliability that our customers have come to expect.
